Marc-André Aubé
COO Physical Security, Canada
Marc-André Aube joined the Garda team in June 2007 as Special Advisor to the CEO. One of his first mandates was to take part in the realignment of the entire physical security operation in Canada to profitably expand the business. He is now COO of the Canadian Physical Security business including the airport screening operations. Before joining Garda, Mr. Aube was Director of Corporate Debt at the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec (CDPQ), where he managed a corporate debt portfolio of $1.2 billion and played an active role in business development. While employed at the CDPQ, Mr. Aubé negotiated the financing for several major international companies such as Bombardier,Transforce Livingston International and HCA. In addition, in early 2006, he arranged the financing for acquisitions conducted by Garda and also participated in financing the acquisition of the Maison des Futailles by Kruger. An outstanding speaker, Mr. Aube taught market share evaluation for MBA students at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Aube worked as a corporate banker for Scotia Capital, where he developed and managed a portfolio evaluated at US$715 million. He also helped increase Scotia Capital's market share in Quebec by working on a number of major transactions including the financing of companies such as Dorel, Rona, Couche-Tard, Van Houtte, and Jean Coutu. Earlier in his career, Mr. Aube was Retail Operations Manager at Petro-Canada. He was in charge of 18 outlets, which generated annual revenues of $60 million. As a young, dynamic professional specializing inbusiness development, Mr. Aube is a valuable asset to the Garda team. Mr. Aube earned an MBA in finance from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montreal as well as the designation of CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
Luc Dupont
Vice President, Business Development, Quebec
After obtaining his bachelor degree in Finance in 1988, Mr. Dupont worked for major Financial institutions on a corporate level for more than 10 years. Mr. Dupont joined Garda in 1999 as the General Manager for the Quebec region and was promoted in 2002 to his present position of Vice President, Business Development. Mr. Dupont's past and present responsibilities include the management of all security officers' operations across Quebec. He is also in charge of business development for cash handling and Physical Security in Quebec and he is involved in all major proposals throughout Canada. He also manages the quality control ISO 9001-2000 certification for Garda's security officers division. Mr. Dupont is well respected for his contribution in the creation and implementation of corporate policies for general proposals and marketing presentations.
Christopher A. Young
Vice President, Business Development
Christopher A. Young joined the senior executive of Garda with the acquisition of the Signature Group in May 2005. Mr. Young's background was in law enforcement being a member of the Edmonton Police Service from 1979 to 1997. His role in the Police Service was quite expansive where he gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge into the many insights of crime and analysis. In addition to his Police career Mr. Young has been actively involved in the directorship of a number of other companies in the travel and automotive industries. Upon leaving the Police Service Mr. Young was appointed to the position of Edmonton Branch Manager for a large privately owned security provider in Canada. An aggressive promotional path led to the positions of Alberta Regional Manager and Alberta Vice President. In 2001, the Signature Group was launched in Edmonton with a satellite branch in Calgary opening in 2003. Personalized service and a hands on management style proved to be very successful with the employee base growing to over 350 personnel. When the opportunity arose to join the Garda team, it was a recipe for success. Primarily based in Eastern Canada but with offices across the country, the merger of the Signature Group and Garda effectively doubles Garda's presence in the province of Alberta and solidifies our position and the largest and most professionally run security firm in the country. Mr. Young continues to supervise our Edmonton office along with overseeing Western operations and business development. Outside of his business responsibilities, Mr. Young has also served as a director and executive committee member of the Edmonton Police Credit Union, is a director of the Northern Alberta Shopping Centre Association (NASCA), a member of the Synergy Network, and is the Security Director of the Whitemud Creek Homeowners Association.
Cy King
Vice President, Mining & Energy Projects, Canada
Prior to entering the security field. Mr. King had a long and distinguished military career during his military service Mr. King was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and was awarded the following military medals/decorations during his career. (SSM) Special Service Medal, Nato, (CD) Canadian Decoration, (UNFICYP) United Nations Peace Keeping Medal, (CPSM) Canadian Peace Keeping Medal. He is also a recipient of the Nobel Peace Medal awarded to United Nations Peace Keepers in 1988. During his career he saw service with the Black Watch (RHR), the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR), 3 Mechanized Commando and the Canadian Airborne Regiment (Special Forces) He is a professional security manager with years of hands-on experience, having serviced in Northwest Europe for four years with 3 Mechanized Commando as the unit's Intelligence Sergeant in addition to two UN peace keeping tours (Cyprus). During his service Mr. King trained with the (JDF) in Jamaica, the Norwegian Army the US Special Forces (Green Berets), the 82nd Airborne and the British Royal Marines. He also participated in Northern Ireland training with the British Green Jackets in Germany. Mr. King is a graduate of the Canadian Forces School of Security and Intelligence (CFSIS) and the Warrant Officers Academy, and holds numerous qualifications/certificates. Such as Military Security Management, Advance Intelligence, Advance Surveillance, Loss Control Management, Information Systems Security from the National Computer Security Association Washington, DC. design & Application of Industrial Security Systems from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. After leaving the military Mr. King eventually accepted a role with Suncor Energy in the position of Manager (Security Systems) where he continued until taking an early retirement in 1996. He once again entered private security as a consultant in 1999 for Metropol Security and in 2000 accepted the position of Branch Manager with Initial Security who had purchased Metropol. Mr. King in his role as Branch Manager grew the Branch revenues by more then three hundred percent in 5 years to become the leader in Rentokil Initial's Organization world wide He also holds a Certified Protection Officer (CPO) qualification from Mount Royal College... Having both National and International security experience as well as military tactical and intelligence training makes him a valuable asset to our organization and we believe his presence will afford you the benefit of that experience.
Rob MacLean
Vice President, Physical Security, Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Manitoba
With over 20 years of experience in the Security industry, Mr. MacLean has worked his way through the ranks beginning his career as a uniformed Security Guard in 1989, while attending Carleton University in Ottawa as a Commerce Student majoring in Business Systems. Throughout his career, Mr. MacLean worked as a Private Investigator and Security Guard; providing security services and management skills in many aspects of the industry throughout Canada. In addition, Mr. MacLean is a licensed Security Guard and Private Investigator in many provinces across Canada.
Over the last 10 years, Mr. MacLean has been a part of the senior management team of Initial Security holding Regional and National positions in both Operations as a General Manager and in Human Resources in a National Leadership Role. Mr. MacLean joined Garda as the National Director of Human Resources & Labour Relations in 2006 when Garda acquired Initial Security. Since then, Mr. MacLean assisted in the leadership of the CATSA team as the Director of Operations for the CATSA contract in Canada.
Mr. MacLean joined the Executive Leadership Team of Garda in January of 2010 as the Vice President of Physical Security for Ontario, Manitoba and Atlantic Canada; providing support to both Garda’s clients and employees alike.
With this experience, Mr. MacLean brings a unique skill set in the fields of security management, training, investigations, risk management, human resources, labor relations, occupational Health & Safety, quality assurance, aviation security and business management.
Glenn Thomson
Vice President, Business Development, Physical Security, Ontario and Manitoba
Glenn Thomson is Vice President of Business Development for Physical Security responsible for product development and acquisition initiatives in new and existing markets for the Physical Security Team in Ontario and Manitoba.
Mr. Thomson is an entrepreneurial Business Executive and seasoned Sales and Marketing Professional with seventeen years of progressive experienced building highly successful teams. In his most recent position, Mr. Thomson was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a software services company where he helped double year-over-year sales performance by helping organizations realize true return on their human capital investment through the optimization of people, processes and systems.
Earlier in his career Mr. Thomson held several progressively senior management positions with Rogers Communication including responsibility for building several diversified sales teams over a nine year period with accountabilities for Channel Development, Competitive Defense, Revenue Assurance and Sales Performance.
Mr. Thomson was then recruited by Direct Energy where he re-engineered the sales operations and renegotiated supplier agreements achieving significant cost reductions and implemented new sales tools resulting in a 250% increase in active agents and over one hundred thousand new product relationships valued at more than $50 million.
An Honours Bachelor of Commerce graduate from Laurentian University, Mr. Thomson is actively involved in the community through his efforts on the Fund Development Committee of Habitat for Humanity and coaching a competitive Ringette team.
